About Jana

Welcome to Harvesting Home! I'm Jana. I love family; I love home; I love wherever God places me!

Through the years I have been thrilled to work with thousands of children and women, helping us all to bloom where God plants us! Every home can be a Harvesting Home by utilizing everyday opportunities to bear lasting fruit!

I am a mother of three (plus one in heaven), “Honey” to four precious grandchildren, wife to a husband who loves me with all his heart, kids’ teacher, ladies’ encourager, home decorator, and community promoter! My life has taken so many fun turns, and some not so fun, to help me appreciate all people and places ranging from small towns of a few hundred, to large metropolitan cities of a few million.

Over the years I have owned a party planning and entertainment business, taught private voice and piano, remodeled/decorated/nested in 11 homes, and now tell the wonderful stories of our local schools as Communications, Family, and Community Engagement Coordinator. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration that I completed along this crazy journey, but that’s a blog for another day!

I am not sure why, but I have a new found love for collecting vintage scales! I fell in love with this one in Round Top! It’s not in perfect condition, but that’s why I love it. I left it there at first and then went back several times before I finally decided to negotiate with the seller. I think it adds so much character to my kitchen! ...

Sometimes new is good. For example, I like new shoes. I mean who doesn’t like new shoes! I have a closet full of them! But, there is just something about rescuing a vintage piece and giving it new life that really brings me joy.

I love that their stories are being told again in new ways like the ones that are contained within the walls of my almost 100 year old home, or the furniture cart we restored from a North Carolina furniture warehouse and it is now a coffee table, or now this fun set of vintage theater seats. It’s just fun to see it come to life again!

You can read all about the full transformation, the products I used, and see the finished project on the blog.

This is one special little corner. It’s probably one of my favorite spots in my house. It’s undergone a little facelift lately. A new color on the walls, a new lamp, a new(old) table. All just things that help make this corner cozy and comfortable. But that’s not what makes it special. The book on the table next to the chair and the moments spent reading it are what make it special! I love waking up early, pouring a hot, flavored cup of coffee, and curling up in this chair with my Bible. The things I’ve learned and the many ways I’ve been comforted, challenged, and changed are too many to count! ...
