Learn how to make a charcuterie board that your friends and family will love through this fun how-to video! Charcuterie has become the popular new foodie term for a fun, fast, and filling meal that is far more than an appetizer of cheese! In fact, the name “charcuterie” doesn’t even mean cheese at all! It is a French word for processed meat. But don’t think Spam or Vienna Sausages! Here is an informative article from FOODICLES to help you know what you are eating.

Let’s start with the basics. Most of us do not even know how to pronounce the C word! So here you go, straight from the Miriam-Webster Dictionary.
charcuterie
char·cu·te·rie | \ (ˌ)shär-ˌkü-tə-ˈrē
Most often displayed on boards, not in a casserole dish like my husband keeps suggesting, charcuterie has come to mean an appetizing array of finger snacks, but it even goes as far as to be a way to display the fixin’s (that’s what we call ‘em in Texas) of a taco, hamburger, or even pancakes!
Ingredients for a classic charcuterie board might include:
- Cured meats, turkey, ham, salami, etc
- Cheese-Swiss, Gouda, cheddar, etc
- Olives – all colors!
- Nuts – almonds, pecans, peanuts, walnuts
- Dried Fruit.
- Crackers or baguette bread.
- Jelly or jam.
But you can also take this finger-food concept and create just about any “boards” to your liking and appropriate for your specific event. You can have burger, taco, and just about anything for any meal, except soup; I definitely do not recommend soup! But you could do a soup or chili fixins’ board! In this video Laura mentions another popular style which are breakfast boards, as she will later be making a pancake board for a friend.
The key to the popularity of charcuterie boards might be that they are as unlimited as your creativity can take you!
Our friend Laura, a wife and mother of three boys, or “House Full of Fellas” as she calls it, proves that charcuterie boards are not just pretty party trays for a ladies’ brunch or shower, but can be for any family, any gathering, any day . . . and often even an all-day meal! In fact, just picture these three words, Super Bowl Charcuterie!
