In Part 1, we introduced 7 wonderful mothers and grandmothers who have over 670 years of experience in praying for their children and grandchildren.
In Part 2, we considered the first two questions posed to each mother and grandmother about their practices in praying for their children and grandchildren.
In Part 3, our friends shared scripture verses, stories of answered prayer, and some motivating factors which keep them consistent in prayer.
In Part 4, we raised our experience level to over 700 years by introducing a new friend to tell her story which offers grace to many of us!

We live in such a difficult world. There would be no disputing that fact. Parenting is tough. But would any of us want to go back and be kids nowadays? I surely doubt it! Praying for our children and grandchildren is not an option; it is essential!
Our children, just like us, are growing up making choices, striving to make faith their own, and sometimes the decisions they make are not best. Sometimes, despite our faithful prayer, kids will not always be perfect!
But what a difference prayer makes in their repentance and return to a path of faithfulness. So do not give up if your children begin to head down a rebellious path. Many Christian mothers and fathers will spend sleepless nights battling in prayer for the souls of their children. Pray continually, and trust God to work in their lives.
One concluding thought which these special ladies have reminded me is that our prayers should be God-sized! So often we pray for the things we see, within our grasp, or merely the daily activities. That is certainly good, but prayer can and should be so much more! James says that we do not have because we do not ask. So, go ahead and ask for the moon! Pray big prayers for your children. I want to be guilty of praying too much rather than too little.
Kathy shared,
“When I get to Heaven I don’t want God to say that He would have done much more in our family, but all I asked for was something like safe travel, so that’s all He gave us. I pray that each of us would lead millions and maybe even billions to Christ. Not because there is any greatness in us, but just that God would use us for His amazing glory. I pray that we would be faithful prayer warriors, on-fire evangelists, and those who memorize and meditate on Scripture.”
My husband Byron has often said that the greatest impact we can have for God is not something that you personally do, but someone you raise. What a privilege it is to be a part of something far greater in and through the lives of your children, than for yourself.

As Linita commented, “These questions really made me think and reflect on our lives as parents…my “seasons” as a mother and brought me to tears as I considered the faithfulness of God!”
Don’t you want to be faithful in prayer to the God who is faithful to you?” Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
