“Making a House a Home”

Join us as we tour these beautiful spring flower gardens and historic home built in 1915. This immaculately decorated cottage-style home was recently featured on the “For the Love of Old Homes” Facebook page! From beautiful landscaping, sparkling pool, and gorgeous remodeled kitchen, you will be inspired and encouraged to make your house a home. In this video, we share some of the special things that have helped this family create a beautiful house, but also the secret to making it more than just a beautiful house, but a memorable home.

This home is very special to me. This is my parent’s home and is filled with so many memories. From Camp Nana and Poppy to anniversary celebrations, weddings, new babies, friends, and most importantly faith, this home has been well loved.
The design of the home is a cottage-style and boasts beautiful hardwood floors, concrete and stucco walls (to protect from the often harsh West Texas weather), high ceilings, and storybook gardens. The pool that was recently redone provides a tranquil and welcoming outdoor area.

I know you will enjoy the video tour of this historic home, but more than anything, I hope that you will see the love that has filled that home through the years. It is the love of family and the Lord that is instantly expressed when you walk through the doors. It is home because of the people. It is not the beautiful characteristics that will be remembered. It will be….
- my children spending time with their grandparents at Camp Nana and Poppy
- all of my children learning to swim in the pool
- family dinners around the dining room table(filled with laughter)
- my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary
- my brother’s rehearsal dinner
- bringing my nieces home there
- family gatherings(too many to count)
- my parents’ Bibles on the table in the study-faithfully reading them every morning
- 4th of July parades down their street
- Christmas decorations
- Family
The beautiful thing about these things? They will carry on now matter where we live! These are things that brought our family together and no matter where we are, they will continue to be the foundation of our homes. I hope that you are encouraged and will look for the beautiful ways you can make your house a home and then share them with us!
