Blogs have grown to provide benefit and value to your life with inspiration, information, and instruction. You might have heard about bloggers and blogging in a general sense, and assume it is no more than an online personal diary. That format provided interest for a brief period, until reality television took over the strange fixation many people have in watching the dysfunction of other people’s lives! But blogging has grown up from what it was 20+ years ago to include literally hundreds of millions of blogs of all types. Blogging has grown beyond only a text-oriented platform to include video (vlogs) and social media platforms as well.
In 2020, you will be pleased to find a seemingly endless resource of helpful information on all subjects, tips for more efficient living, creative ideas for areas in which you have interest, inspiration for pursuing passions and dream, etc. The availability of resources online and on blogs is beyond what any of us can fathom.
How do you find a blogger you can trust?
Most blogs have an About Me page. This helps you to know the blogger a little more personally and to become familiar with their credentials. You might discover that the perspective and values of the blogger do not align with yours. In those cases, keep on looking for others. Be careful that you do not overlook this important identifying characteristic and allow philosophies to influence you with which you disagree. About HARVESTING HOME
Ask friends for referrals of bloggers they trust; whose ideas and values are like your own. There are also numerous online directories of blogs that might be found through a simple online search. But another area about which you evaluate is that every online blog, post, advertisement, etc., comes from someone, or a company, who has specific motivation for that which they promote. Often the motivation for blogging is monetization, and there is certainly nothing wrong with making an honest living. But those who provide reviews and promotions of various matters might be getting paid to do so, which means the content is possibly biased. Therefore, it is important to consider the motivation for blogging, not only the content.
Find a niche you love!
A niche is a subject area or a market segment in which you have interest. Do you love fitness and nutrition? What about decorating? Or, is your interest in raising respectful children? Maybe you bought a new vacuum and want to know how it works? All of these are specific niche areas that are found in blogs, YouTube, and other social media platforms. Spend a little time with your favorite search engine and you will discover a wealth of information on the niche which most interests you.As you dive into a niche, you might also discover that you have expertise or passion that can provide value to others who appreciate the same niche. Beginning a blog or YouTube channel is something attainable for many people. It is as simple as creating a WordPress account for free, signing up with a host such as Bluehost, choosing or designing a theme like the Charlotte theme from 17th Avenue Designs, and beginning to create content. I would enjoy interacting with you and helping you launch a platform that fills you with limitless enthusiasm, as this has for me.
Influence the blogs you love!
Maybe it is not in your realm of interest to begin a blog for yourself, but you still have much to offer! Good bloggers welcome input from their readers. Blog posts typically have comment sections below through which you can interact with the content host/writer. Make sure you share with them if you enjoyed or benefitted from specific items. Sometimes content creators (writers, youtubers, etc.) ask for suggestions for blog posts or something that would benefit you in a specific niche. In those cases, they really do want to hear from you, so feel free to share topic ideas with them.
As the creator of Harvesting Home, I have many ideas that we will be pursuing. But I still want to hear from you! You may share ideas in comment sections, or by emailing me at [email protected].
Another way to be an influencer of the blogging world is by becoming a content creator. Numerous websites list job opportunities for various forms of contract work for the blogging industry such as writers/creators, graphic design, photographers, and more. Check out WritersWork to see current opportunities.
Do not miss out on valuable content!
Following blogs is not quite as clear cut as watching the evening news in the old days. You cannot expect to sign on at a specific time each day to read new articles, or to walk out in the morning and see the daily newspaper has been delivered.
In order to never miss out on new content, please subscribe to Harvesting Home, and other blogs you enjoy. A blog subscription is FREE, and often even coming with a free resource. To subscribe to a blog, you simply provide your name and email address, and you will receive an email every time new content is added to Harvesting Home! It is also a fun way to share interesting niches with your friends and family. So, you are most welcome to encourage them to subscribe to Harvesting Home as well.
Please subscribe and become part of our Harvesting Home family. We look forward to living, learning, and laughing together as we explore issues that help us build homes that are firmly planted and bearing fruit.
